Situated halfway between Willunga and Aldinga, Willunga Plains Flowers is run by Colin and Ruth Carpenter who have been farming flowers for 25 years.

Their stall is one of the brightest stalls at the Market and on an average week Colin sells nearly 600 of the freshest, softest bunches of colour.

Willunga Plains Flowers specialises in gerberas, lisianthus and lilies year round, and sweet pea and ranunculus in the winter months.

“We grow for quality, and pick on Friday to keep them as fresh as possible for the Market,” says Colin.

Lisianthus is the best seller but the hardest to grow. They come in assorted hues of purple, white or pink, a creamy yellow, two toned red and white, and blue and white. Lisianthus will last 3 weeks in a vase.

Gerberas are predominantly red, yellow, orange, and light or hot pink. They last 2–3 weeks in a vase.

Trumpet Christmas lilies are white, and the Asiatic ones are white too but come in pink, yellow, and orange and red. They last up to 2 weeks.

Ranunculus comes in pink, yellow and orange or a mix of colours. They also last over a week.

Sweet peas are grown for their soft pastel colours and last for a week.

You can also buy Willunga Plains Flowers direct from the Willunga Farmers Market and various fruit and vegetable shops around the state.
