Join us in the vegie patch and plant peas.

March is the new spring! It’s the perfect time of year to get your winter vegies in while the ground is still warm. Dig in here and get the buzz on Autumn vegie gardening.

We’re heading for the Autumn equinox. What’s an equinox? There are two equinoxes per year, one in March (Autumn) and one in September (Spring).

They occur when the sun is positioned directly over the equator, so day and night are in perfect balance with around 12 hours each. The days gradually shorten from March 21 onwards. So make the most of the sunlight hours in your garden whilst you can!

Find out more about the equinox!

Cooking with Kate

Kitchen skills were honed as two teams got down to the business of preparing fresh stone fruit from Market orchardists.

Wonderfully sweet nectarines and peacherines were drizzled with honey and dobbed with a little butter then roasted in a hot oven.

Whisks were put into action as the team mixed eggs with sweet milk, vanilla and cinnamon then soaked thick slices of sourdough in custard to make Honey Roasted Peacherines with Eggy Bread (if you want to sound posh you can call it French Toast!) To make this at home here’s the recipe and the shopping list for Market goodies.

The kitchen brigade did us proud and the yummy result was a breakfast fit for Kings and Queens!
