Virgara’s Garden brings the freshest food possible to the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market every Sunday.
“It’s what our customers come back for,” say Sarina and Francesco Virgara. “Feedback from our customers is that our foods last all week. It’s our biggest selling point.”
Selling vegetables at their freshest means following the seasons. Summer and autumn favourites are beans, peas, tomatoes, zucchini, corn and capsicum.
Throughout winter and spring the popular items are cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, beetroot, parsnips, artichokes and garlic.
And to keep Sarina and Francesco busy nearly every day of the year they have year-round best sellers such as carrots, potatoes, onions, beetroot, swedes, turnips, parsnips and lettuce.
All of this produce is grown on their farms in Willunga and Myponga. Their 50 hectares produce over 20 vegetable items in any given season. It’s a broad smorgasbord of fresh foods which caters for all tastes.
But there’s more to it than just vegies. Sarina and Francesco grow their own olives and produce 2000 litres of olive oil for Market customers.
They also sell pistachios around Easter time, picked fresh from their 150 pistachio trees.
Their queues of customers are a real indication of the quality Virgara’s Garden supplies each week at the Market.
Virgara’s Garden produce is also available at the Victor Harbor and Willunga Farmers Markets.
Together, this hard working team gets huge satisfaction from seeing their efforts grow their business to be able to supply three markets every weekend with produce fresh from the garden.
