Spice Girlz began trading in 2002 and has since become an award-winning national brand, with business growing directly from Market enquiries.
Owner Bronwyn Busbridge says the Market gives “the perfect opportunity to educate customers about the Spice Girlz’ range, to receive instant feedback and to trial new lines.”
Spice Girlz’ produce is made with fresh South Australian ingredients (in particular Fleurieu Peninsula produce) where possible.
The product range includes pestos: basil; salsa verde; sundried tomato; and olive tapenade. All use herbs, olives, olive oils and almonds from the Fleurieu Peninsula.
New lines focus specifically on Fleurieu Peninsula produce and include:
- Market Muesli – almonds, oils, honeys, pistachios and sultanas
- Poached Pears – pears, honey and vanilla beans
- Preserved Lemons – lemons.
Spice Girlz’ most popular and signature product is their Moroccan Jam. Its many uses may account for its popularity but it is also simply delicious.
Zulu-Lu is an exotically-spiced tomato and ginger relish, used by the Hilton Hotel in their gourmet room-service burgers.
Jamato, a tomato and ginger jam is fabulous with cheese, hams and white meats.
Saucy Tomato is a traditional home-made sauce with a touch of chilli.
Hakuna Matata is a tomato and eggplant-style salsa of medium heat as is the Cor Blimey lime and chilli pickle.
Spice Girlz supply recipes at their stall for such dishes as Moroccan Lamb Shanks; Hakuna Matata Chicken and Mushroom Pasta; a Curry in a Hurry laksa-style dish with Zulu-Lu; and Thai Chicken Balls spiced up with Cor Blimey.
Spice Girlz can also be found at the Willunga, Victor Harbor and Adelaide Hills Farmers’ Markets.
