Original Cereal Company creates handcrafted artisan cereals. Run by Caroline and Jacobus Johannes with the wholefood knowledge of John Downes, their low GI food is based on macrobiotic food principles with a preference for locally grown, organic and biodynamic ingredients.
There are four varieties of cereal available: Original, Chocolotl, Brown Rice and Tropadelic. All are wheat and dairy free with no added sugar and the fruits are non-sulphur dried (ie no preservatives). The cereals also incorporate an assortment of native Australian bushfoods.
Each cereal is mixed with barley malt and pure fruit juice, and then gently toasted. All have linseed, sunflower seeds and quandongs, and the gluten-free Brown Rice and Tropadelic have sesame seeds.
- Original: organic biodynamic whole grain rolled oats, wattle seed, bush tomato, organic vanilla bean.
- Chocolotl: oat based with organic cocoa, carob molasses, wattle seed, muntarie (native apple), Kutjera berries (desert raisin).
- Brown Rice: organic biodynamic brown rice, organic rice malt, almonds, hazelnuts, dates, bush tomato, muntarie, organic vanilla bean.
- Tropadelic: organic biodynamic brown rice flakes, coconut, peanuts, Australian papaya cubes and bananas, dried coconut nectar, rice malt.
To turn this delicious cereal into a healthy snack food, all nuts, seeds and grains are soaked and then compressed into bars.
