Produce: certified-organic apples, apple juices, dried apples and vegetables

Kalangadoo Organic on the Limestone Coast grows certified-organic apples to produce the most nutritious and best tasting apples and apple products available.
Proudly run by Michelle and Chris McColl, buying Kalangadoo Organic apples means avoiding the long supply chain which usually exists between grower and consumer, as they guarantee their apples are sold within 4 days of harvest.
Apart from the standard apple varieties of Gala, Jonagold, Braeburn and Fuji, Kalangadoo Organic also supplies over 90 heritage varieties.
“The flavours, textures and appearances of these heritage apples are so different that they almost don’t seem like apples,” says Chris, “and people don’t care too much about variety once they taste an apple that’s freshly picked from the tree.”
Kalangadoo Organic Juice tastes just as fabulous as their fresh apples. The juice is made in season while the apples are fresh and tastings are available at the stall.
The solar dried apples retain that sweet fresh taste as the fruit is dried without additives.
And a new and exciting line is their organic vegetables grown in partnership with a community of Burmese refugees. At the moment they are conducting their own Research and Development to test produce and marketing before moving into full production mode.
“It’s looking very positive,” says Chris, “we’re all pretty impressed with the produce and organic vegetables will make their way to Market more and more over the next few years. The aim is for the Burmese community to operate this business completely.”
Kalangadoo Organic also supplies the South East community and its juice can be found in retailers around Adelaide.
