The ASFM is a not-for-profit incorporated body administered by a committee selected by ballot from the general membership at the annual ASFM AGM. Elected members serve for a minimum period of two years. The general membership is made up of producer members, consumer members and corporate stakeholders. As an incorporated not-for-profit entity the ASFM is administered under Rules of Incorporated Association, and the Management Committee is responsible under Section 25 of the Incorporated Associations Act for the management and control of the funds and other property of the ASFM. The Market Manager operates the weekly Market, assigns stalls, and generally oversees the smooth operation of the Market according to the Rules, Regulations and Obligations, endorsed by the ASFM Management Committee.
